DAY TWO The Action Continues
What a great time we had again last night at our second VBS session! We learned a new song that had everybody really MOVING (the first day we moved, but the second day we really moved) …….
“Get a Little Crazy!”
Yeah, we’re all in this together
And we’re havin’ fun
We’re here to spread the love of God to everyone.
Gonna get a little crazy
And a little wild,
Here we go now
Come give it a try.
Move it to the left now,
Move it to the right,
Find someone you don’t know
And give ‘em a high five!
Stomp your feet louder,
Wave your hands up high.
Find somebody else now
And give ‘em a high five!
At Kid-Vid Cinema we watched Addie, the young girl in our video, as she did tumbling tricks on top of a moving horse. Our Bible Point – ‘God is For Us’ reminds us that God helps us succeed. He helps us do things that are hard and gives us courage when we are afraid. “If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” Romans 8:31. The kids shared things in their own lives that cause them to fear or shrink back from trying something new. One little girl shared her fear of learning to ride her bike without training wheels. Some of us can remember what that fear was like. We got a new Bible Buddy – Tina Termite. Termites, though very small, can build big complicated mounds that are even air conditioned, all without any blueprints – just using the instincts that God gave them.
At snack time we assembled “marshmallow forts” made of marshmallows and pretzel sticks……..the kids loved them. One little girl said “This is the funnest food ever!”
In Pastor Ben’s Bible Discovery everyone heard about Rahab and became a part of the story as they crawled in the dark to the rooftop, just as the Israelite spies did.
Good stuff! Thanks for your continued prayers.
DAY THREE = HAVING A WHALE OF A TIME
It was another fantastic day at VBS. Our Station Leaders and Crew Leaders are working so well together and the kids……THE KIDS are very excited to be here! We are so thankful for your prayers.
On Day 3 in Bible Discovery Gideon is found hiding from the Midianites in a winepress when an angel of the Lord appeared to him, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!” What? How can Gideon be a mighty hero when he is hiding from his enemy? Gideon is discouraged because he feels like God has abandoned him. God’s angel said to Gideon, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!” I bet Gideon was thinking, “What? Me?” He said, “But Lord, how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest, and I am the least in my entire family!” The Lord answered, “I will be with you.”
The children who come to VBS don’t always feel like God is with them, sometimes they feel lonely and abandoned but ….BUT God says in His Word “The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 This truth was re-emphasized in everything we did today.
In KidVid we watched a video about 3 boys who had to come up with a project for their class at school. They had to think of what they would do, put together what was needed and implement their plan. They decided to ask a local hardware store to donate a park bench. They took the bench to their school and painted “Buddy Bench” on it. The school helped them with letting all the kids know that whenever a child was left out and had no one to play with they could go sit on the bench and these boys would go over and ask if he/she wanted to play. What a great lesson for the kids! The three boys were the hands and feet of Jesus at their school. (God is with you wherever you go!)
We heard several times during day 3 how much the kids liked the games they played out on the front lawn. Thanks Joe and Tina
Bible Buddy for the day – Bubba the Whale. We added Bubba and the memory verse to our key chains. The kids love these.
Only one more day. The week is going by fast. We pray for changed lives. Thanks for joining with us in that!
