“She’s Only Sleeping”
As we continue our series on the Gospel of Mark, we follow Jesus away from the crowds to the house of Jairus, a synagogue ruler. Jairus’ daughter has died, and the commotion of a Jewish funeral is in full force. Ignoring all the flap, unflappable Jesus does what only He could in a manner only He could possess. Taking the young girl’s hand in a tender embrace, He exhibits His absolute power over death in calling her back to life. In the ministry of our Lord unto His own, His power and tenderness are inseparable.
